Dr. (PhD) Ali Fathollah-Nejad ist Gründer und Direktor des Center for Middle East and Global Order (CMEG), welches zu Transformationen und einer Interessen und Werte versöhnenden Außenpolitik forscht. Der deutsch-iranische Politologe arbeitet zum Nahen/Mittleren Osten (insb. Iran), westlicher Außenpolitik und post-unipolarer Weltordnung. Er ist außerdem Kolumnist beim Global Policy Journal, McCloy Fellow on Global Trends des American Council on Germany (ACG) sowie Iran-Experte am Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs der American University of Beirut (IFI-AUB), wo er auch einen regelmäßigen Iran-Report verfasst. Zuletzt erschien von ihm das Chaillot Paper The Islamic Republic in Existential Crisis: The Need for a Paradigm Shift in the EU’s Iran Policy (EUISS, 2023). Fathollah-Nejad ist außerdem Autor des viel gepriesenen Buches Iran in an Emerging New World Order: From Ahmadinejad to Rouhani (2021) sowie der Studie The Islamic Republic of Iran Four Decades On: The 2017/18 Protests Amid a Triple Crisis (Brookings, 2020), wo er bereits vom Beginn eines langfristigen revolutionären Prozesses in Iran sprach. Nach der Promotion in Internationalen Beziehungen und Entwicklungsstudien an der SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London), war er Postdoktorand an der Harvard Kennedy School.

Ali Fathollah-Nejad est le fondateur et directeur du Center for Middle East and Global Order (CMEG), qui mène des recherches sur les transformations en Iran, le Moyen Orient et l’ordre mondial ainsi qu’une politique étrangère conciliant intérêts et valeurs. Le politologue germano-iranien travaille sur le Moyen-Orient (en particulier l’Iran), la politique étrangère occidentale et l’ordre mondial post-unipolaire. A present, il est McCloy Fellow on Global Trends de l’American Council on Germany (ACG, New York), travailliant sur les possibilités d’une politique étrangère transatlantique face aux régimes autoritaires qui combinerait les valeurs avec des intérêts. Il est aussi l’expert sur l’Iran associé à l’Université américaine de Beyrouth (AUB), ou il publie »Iran in Focus« (auparavant »Iran 1400 Brief«). Il est l’auteur de Iran in an Emerging New World Order: From Ahmadinejad to Rouhani (2021) et initateur du Berlin Mideast Podcast (Fondation Konrad Adenauer, KAS). Il est aussi collaborateur scientifique au Centre d’Études de la Coopération Internationale et du Développement (CECID) de l‘Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) et au Center for Middle Eastern and North African Politics à l’Université libre de Berlin (FU).

Fathollah-Nejad est titulaire d’un doctorat en relations internationales du Département d’études du développement de la School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Université de Londres, et a poursuivi son post-doctorat à la Harvard Kennedy School. Il était aussi l’expert de l’Iran au sein du German Council of Foreign Relations (DGAP) et de la Brookings Institution à Doha (BDC). Entre autres, il a enseigné à des universités à Londres, Berlin, Doha et Tübingen. Il est aussi l’auteur de The Islamic Republic of Iran Four Decades On: The 2017/18 Protests Amid a Triple Crisis (2020) et The Politics of Culture in Times of Rapprochement: European Cultural and Academic Exchange with Iran (2015–16) (2020).
